Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Update to Regulation 34
On 9 June 2025 the Senate approved with immediate effect an amendment to Regulation 34: Determination of Fitness to Practise to reflect that the title of junior doctor has been updated to resident doctor.
These changes will be noted by the Council on 9 July 2025.
Updates to Regulations 23 and 27
On 9 April 2025 the Senate approved with immediate effect amendments to Regulation 23: Regulation Governing Student Misconduct and Disciplinary Committees and Regulation 27: Regulation Governing On-Campus Residential Accommodation to ensure compliance with the new OfS condition (E6) related to the management of harassment and sexual misconduct.
These changes were noted by the Council on 21 May 2025.
Update to Regulation 34
On 21 March 2025 the Senate approved with immediate effect a minor amendment to Regulation 34: Regulation for the Determination of Fitness to Practise (MA/SW and PGCE) to change the chair title of the Fitness to Practise Panel from Academic Director (Graduate/Undergraduate Studies) to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) or their nominee to avoid ambiguity from legacy titles.
These changes were noted by the Council on 21 May 2025.
Revisions to Ordinance 11
On 12 February 2025 the Council approved with immediate effect revisions to Ordinance 11: Academic Employment, reflecting updates to the composition of Senate after the Academic Governance Review and the appointment process for, and role of the Chair of the Academic Freedom Review Committee.
Revisions to Ordinance 7 and deletion of Regulation 30
On 12 February 2025 the Council approved with immediate effect revisions to Ordinance 7: Academic Bodies to reflect changes to the process for the appointment of Academic Heads of Department and reporting lines of the Committee on the Appointment of Heads of Department, as discussed and recommended by Senate on 29 January 2025. The Senate also approved the deletion of Regulation 30: Procedure for appointment of Heads of Joint Schools in the Faculties of Arts & Social Sciences, as this was now outdated and superseded by updates to Ordinance 7.
